2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs Chevy Traverse

Buying a new SUV can get a little frustrating! After all, there are so many makes and models out there with tons of engine options and features, and it can be hard to pick one out that suits you and your family's needs. We here at Quigley Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM want to help, which is why we have taken two of the most impressive SUVs out there right now in the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the Chevy Traverse and compared their engine options and features so you have a better sense of which one is best suited for your needs. Continue reading below to find out which come comes out on top!

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Power & Handling

The Grand Cherokee L is dressed to impress with two powerful engine options! Coming standard is a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out an amazing 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque which connects to a solid eight-speed automatic transmission that will provide you with an incredibly smooth ride whether you're on the highway or out on the trails. If you want a little more power, you can opt for the 5.7-liter V8 that ups the ante with 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque which also gets the eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel-drive is available for both of these engines. Looking to haul around a lot of material? Then you've come to the right place with the Grand Cherokee L, as you can lug 6,200 pounds with the V6 and 7,200 pounds with the V8.

2021 Chevy Traverse Power & Handling

Unfortunately, there is only one engine option available for the Chevy Traverse, but it does give you a decent amount of power. It's a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers a stark 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs exclusively with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. Towing for the Traverse is okay as it can haul up to 5,000 pounds, which is a lot less than what the Grand Cherokee L can offer especially when it's equipped with the V8 engine. We wish the Traverse would have some more engine options, but that's not the case.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Features & Design

There are four main trim levels available for the Grand Cherokee L, and they each come with a spectacular amount of luxury, tech, and off-road features. Things start in style with the base Laredo trim, which comes with a power driver’s seat, a digital gauge cluster, a manual liftgate, LED headlights, 2nd-row captain’s chairs. For tech, the Laredo comes with the latest version of the Uconnect system that comes with speeds up to five times faster than the previous version and comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Up next is the Limited, which adds to this with even more advanced features such as leather upholstery, heated power front seats, a power liftgate, and the Select-Terrain traction management system. You also get a heated steering wheel, a remote start system, heated side mirrors, and automatic high-beam headlights. The top two trims are the Overland and Summit, which raise the stakes even further with Nappa leather seats with quilted bolsters, massaging front seats, 4-zone automatic climate control, a McIntosh audio system, hill-descent control, front tow hooks. LED headlights, a navigation system, and so much more!

2021 Chevy Traverse Features & Design

The Chevy Traverse tries to counter what the Grand Cherokee L offers with seven available trims, and each comes with some interesting equipment. The base trim is the L, and it starts things off nicely with 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, heated outside mirrors, cloth upholstery, triple-one climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen with onboard WI-Fi and Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Up next is the LT Cloth, which mixes in heated front seats, a power-adjustable power seat, remote engine start, an 8-inch high-definition touchscreen, and a power liftgate. If you go with one of the higher trims, you will be offered more luxury and tech items such as a heated steering wheel, blacked-out styling cues, LED headlights, a hands-free liftgate, heated and ventilated rear seats, and wireless device charging. The highest trim is aptly named the High Country, which rounds things out with a panoramic sunroof, several trailering enhancements, and a power-folding third-row seat. We like a lot of what the Traverse offers, but we are more impressed with the Grand Cherokee L!

Conclusion:

While it's neck and neck between these two, we will give the victory to the Grand Cherokee L! We like more of what the Grand Cherokee L offers, from the superior engine options to the massive amount of advanced tech. Are you ready to take a test drive of the amazing Grand Cherokee L?
