The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes with two powerful engines. The base engine is a 3.6L V6 engine that kicks out 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, this engine can tow up to 6,200lbs. That's enough power to satisfy the needs of most, but if you need more, you're in luck! The available 5.7L V8 kicks out 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque and can tow up to 7,200lbs. Both engines are mated to a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Three four-wheel-drive systems give the Grand Cherokee L Jeep's legendary off-road capability. Quadra-Trac I uses a single-speed transfer case with a network of sensors to detect wheel slippage and automatically transfer up to 100% of available torque to the axle with the most traction to counteract. Quadra-Trac II acts similarly but uses a two-speed transfer case. Quadra-Trac II also employs Active 4-Low Torque Control with a 2.72:1 gear ratio to optimize crawling capability. Quadra-Drive II utilizes a two-speed transfer case as well but adds an Electronic Limited Slip Rear Differential to provide the unrivaled capability. Quadra-Drive II can detect slippage as it happens and even predict it then smoothly redistribute to the wheels that have the most grip. Quadra-Lift air suspension provides a smooth ride on any road surface and up to 10 inches of ground clearance. Selec-Terrain Traction Management System is also available with Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock modes.
