What's New for the 2022 Ram 1500

The 2022 Ram 1500 lineup consists of eight trim levels, the Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn SouthFork, Limited 10th Anniversary Edition, and TRX. The previous model year brought us the 10th Anniversary Limited Longhorn, which has been replaced by the new Longhorn SouthFork. Now, the Limited 10th Anniversary Edition will display the specialty badging as well as an exclusive Blue Shade colorway, 22-inch wheels, a suede headliner, and a premium 19-speaker sound system. The Longhorn SouthFork will maintain the Longhorn’s signature Southwestern flair, with features like a laser-cut filigree design on its suede door bolsters, Falken Wildpeak tires, and a Mountain Brown interior color. 

The Ram 1500 has been celebrated for its advanced and tech-focused interior, and the 2022 model is no exception. Starting with the Big Horn trim level, all subsequent models will feature the new Uconnect 5 infotainment system, with faster processing speeds and more memory than the previous version. The system also includes on-board Wi-Fi, simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity for two devices, and a split-screen feature. It also comes with a 12-inch touchscreen, and pairs with the new Know & Go app, which will provide drivers with in-depth information about their truck. Drivers will also be able to access their Amazon Alexa assistant from the road with voice commands, and they can also take advantage of tow-specific integrated navigation, all from their infotainment touchscreen. 

The Ram 1500 has five different engine options for its eight trim levels, the first of which is a 3.6-liter eTorque V6, followed by a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, a 5.7-liter HEMI V8, an eTorque HEMI V8, and lastly a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8. The eTorque engines feature the eTorque mild-hybrid system, which works in conjunction with the gas engine to deliver power using a 48-volt battery pack. The final engine option, the supercharged V8, delivers a blistering 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, making those trucks who use it the quickest and fastest on the market. In terms of capability, the 2022 Ram 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds, and a maximum payload weight of 2,300 pounds. It also features a link-coil rear suspension system that cushions the drive, and improves handling, even when driving in off-road conditions. 

In addition to having eight different trim levels, the Ram 1500 adds even more variety with multiple packages including the G/T edition, and Backcountry edition. The G/T package, available on the Laramie and Rebel trims, adds sporty features like a flat-bottomed steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters, a performance hood, cold-air intake, and all-weather floor mats. The Backcountry package is outdoors themed, and includes both the Bed Utility Group, and the Off Road Group. The Bed Utility group equips the 1500 with features like spray-in bedliner, a bed cargo divider, a deployable bed step, while the Off Road Group adds underbody skid plates, tow hooks, all-terrain tires, and hill-descent control. The Backcountry Edition also has black accents and specialty badging, as well as an exclusive two-tone paint color.
