Important Maintenance for your Jeep

Jeeps are robust and unique vehicles that need proper maintenance so you can get the most out of them. The best way to make sure your Jeep runs appropriately is to maintain a regular schedule as dictated by the manufacturer. To make things easy for our drivers in the Reading, Elverson, and Pottstown area we here at Quigley Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM have put together a maintenance schedule just for you. Read on to learn more about how to keep your Jeep nice and happy!

Once a Month Maintenance

Your Jeep works hard and thus needs to be looked at once a month to ensure it's working correctly. Once a month, or before going on a long trip, you should check things like the engines oil level and windshield washer fluid level. Be sure to have your tires checked for wear and tear as well as having the levels of the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, and power steering fluid checked. Finally, check the functionality of your headlights and taillights. If anything mechanical is not functioning correctly, you should take your Jeep to a mechanic, but if any of the fluids are low, you can top them off yourself.

Every Six Months or 7,500 Miles

You will need to have your Jeep more thoroughly every six months. You can take your vehicle here to Quigley’s where a professional can check the battery, brake system, exhaust system, engine cooling system, and all door latches. Once we look over everything, a technician will change your oil and oil filter, rotate your tires, and tighten and clean the battery terminals.

20,000 Mile Maintenance

Once the odometer hits 20,000 miles, you'll want to have your air conditioning, cabin air filter, front and rear suspension, brake linings, and front and rear axle fluid checked. When you take in your vehicle, your Jeep will also have its parking brake adjusted.

60,000 Mile Maintenance

Once you've reached the 60,000-mile mark, you've likely had you Jeep a long time, and you'll need to bring it in for a few minor touch-ups such as replacing spark plugs and changing the transfer case fluid especially if you're using your vehicle more frequently than usual.

100,000 Mile Maintenance

You and your Jeep have certainly gotten to know each other quite well if you've made it to this level. Your 100,000-mile service trip usually means just a minor inspection or a replacement of the PCV valve. Though depending on your driving habits, there could be extensive adjustments, including flushing and replacing the engine, intercooler, Motor Generator Unit, and battery.

If you have hit one of these levels, you need to have your Jeep looked at soon. Luckily, Jeep drivers in the Reading, Elverson, and Pottstown area can make the short trip to Quigley Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM and have your vehicle looked over by our well-trained professionals.
