2022 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

With the 2022 Ram 1500, several engine options are available that will give you all the power you need. The standard option is a 3.6-liter V6 that kicks out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Along with this engine comes an eTorque system that helps improve the fuel economy and the engine stop/start capability. Optional is a 5.7-liter V8 that ups the horsepower to 395 and the torque to 410 lb-ft. This engine is available with our without the eTorque. Those who want a diesel option will not be disappointed with the Ram 1500 as it has an option of a diesel-powered and turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that delivers 260 horsepower and a spectacular 480 lb-ft of torque. Last up is the supercharged engine that's available for the TRX trim. Under the hood of the TRX is a pavement-pounding 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. All of these engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. Four-wheel-drive is optional for those who want a touch more traction. These engines are spectacular, and each one will get the job done!

2022 Chevy Silverado Power & Handling

The Silverado has a few engine options in its own right that try to compete with what the Ram 1500 offers. Standard is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with a good 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. From here, there are several options available, with the first being a 5.3-liter V8 that pumps out a solid 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The other option is a 6.2-liter V8 that gets you 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. There is also a diesel option available for the Silverado, a 3.0-liter diesel-powered V6 that gets you 277 horses and up to 460 lb-ft of torque. These engines all pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. These engines come with a lot of power, but the Ram 1500 is better equipped to tackle the terrain.

2022 Ram 1500 Features & Design

On top of all the powerful engines that the Ram has, it's also very well-equipped. On the base level Tradesman, you get advanced features such as 18-inch wheels, a 23-gallon gas tank, active grille shutters, coil-spring suspension, and trailer-sway control. Also standard are heated and power-adjustable side mirrors. Next, we have the Big Horn trim, which comes with a bunch of tech items such as the latest version of the Uconnect system that has speeds that are four times faster than the previous version and can hold three times as much memory. It also comes with an onboard Wi-Fi system and a tow specific navigation system. These systems come in nicely on the standard 12-inch touchscreen. If you want some specialized features, there are numerous special editions available. One of our favorites is the Limited Tenth-Anniversary Edition, which has22-inch alloy wheels, quilted leather upholstery, suede headliner, jeweled shifter knob, and a 19-speaker audio system. All trim levels also come with a Clean Air System, which filters out 95% of all harmful particles making for one of the cleanest cabins.

2022 Chevy Silverado Features & Design

On the Silverado, you get some advanced features available on all trim levels. These features include leather seats, open-pore wood trim, a Bose premium audio system with stainless steel speaker grilles, and 12 standard tie-downs. Higher-level trims come with power windows/door locks, cruise control, 20-in wheels, chrome bumpers, mirror caps, GM’s OnStar connected services, semi-automatic single-zone climate control, and a larger touchscreen. Unfortunately, you can only get these features on higher trim levels which means if you want something a little more advanced, you're going to want to go with the Ram 1500.
