2022 Jeep Compass vs 2022 Hyundai Kona
Every SUV has something about them that makes them unique, and with the 2022 Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Kona, you get well-rounded SUVs that come with solid engine options, tons of amazing features, and some gorgeous looking interiors. These are two of the best SUVs on the market right now, and we think that either one of them would make an excellent addition to your driveway, but there is one that has a significant advantage over the other. Continue reading down below as we go over what each of these SUVs has to offer and see which one comes out on top!
2022 Jeep Compass Power & Handling
No matter what trim level you go with, the Jeep Compass will come with the same powerful engine. Under the hood sits a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that pumps out 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. If you go with the base Sport or Latitude trim, the Compass will come with front-wheel-drive, though all-wheel-drive is available. All other trims will come with all-wheel-drive as standard. Those with front-wheel-drive will get a six-speed automatic standard, but those will all-wheel-drive get a nine-speed automatic transmission. Both of these transmissions offer you a smooth ride no matter where you travel.
2022 Hyundai Kona Power & Handling
With the Hyundai Kona, you have a couple of options to choose from. On the first few trims, you'll be treated to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers an impeccable 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. This engine connects to a continuously variable automatic transmission. On the higher trims of the Kona, you get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that will increase both the horsepower and torque and pairs with a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission. With the Kona N trim, you get an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is the standard setup for the Kona, although all-wheel-drive is available for some better traction.
2022 Jeep Compass Features & Design
On the Jeep Compass, there are five available trim levels, and there are several advanced features you can get on every trim. The base trim is the Sport which comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated mirrors, roof rails, rear air vents, and an adjustable load floor. Want some more tech? The Sport has you covered with an 8.4-inch touchscreen with the latest version of the Uconnect system that is five times faster than the previous version and has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upping the ante is the Latitude trim, which adds to the Sport with premium cloth/vinyl seats, a leather shift knob, ambient interior lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, and automatic headlights. Several tech options are also available for the Latitude as you can get a wireless charger, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. For luxury, there is the Latitude Lux trim which has leather and heated front seats, 18-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote start, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen. More fun features are available for the Limited, which has a power driver’s seat with lumbar control and rain-sensing wipers. Want to head far off the road? Then we recommend the Trailhawk as it has all the off-road items you could need, such as Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 system with Rock mode, hill-descent control, and a 30-degree approach angle.
2022 Hyundai Kona Features & Design
The 2022 Hyundai Kona has five available trim levels, so fewer features are available. The base trim is the SE which comes standard with several features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a height-adjustable seat, and an 8-inch touchscreen with a six-speaker audio system and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A few more advanced features are available for the SEL trim, which has a remote engine start, heated mirrors, roof rails, tinted rear windows, and keyless entry and ignition. Several sporty features are available for the Kona N, as it has 8-inch wheels, a restyled bumper and grille, upgraded cloth upholstery, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. Only higher trims get the advanced features, and they are pretty scarce. Included are things like automatic wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, rear USB ports, and adaptive cruise control.

While there is a lot to like about the Hyundai Kona, the Jeep Compass comes out thanks to its terrific engine and advanced features.
